What is Byron Bay style? To us, it’s a way of life. It’s effortless, it’s comfortable and it’s meant to be re-worn again and again, throughout the seasons. Here’s a few of our top tips for achieving this wonderfully laid-back style…
Top tip #1: A staple pair of denim shorts and jeans
You can’t go wrong with some good quality blue denim shorts or jeans. There are just so many different ways to style them.
Whether you choose to pair them with a block colour or print top, they’ll perfectly complement your chilled-out Byron Bay lifestyle.
Try wearing under a long top for easy bohemian vibes, or with a cute cropped top if you feel like showing off a bit of skin this summer.
No Byron-inspired wardrobe is complete without your favourite pair of denim shorts and jeans.
Top tip #2: Collection of throw-on tees
Throw-on tees need to be super comfortable and look great with your signature shorts, jeans and maxi skirt alike.
Look for graphics that give you that ‘Byron Bay feeling’ of lazy beach days and hinterland adventures.
Our Dreamers and Drifters tees are made with 100% buttery soft organic bamboo, that just feels like a hug on the skin.
And Verity, our wonderful designer, has taken inspiration from our Byron home itself with original artwork featuring colours of the sunrise.
Available in black and white, they’re the perfect go-to tee for any occasion.
Top tip #3: Byron beachwear
Beachwear doesn’t have to be exclusive to the beach, especially in Byron Bay.
How about wearing a bikini top under an open buttoned white linen shirt? Or a super relaxed kaftan dress for a casual, daytime look?
The beach is a huge part of Byron Bay culture, so being able to transition from beachwear to everyday wear is essential.
Our Wild Hearts kaftan is the perfect swimwear cover-up or throw-on day dress with some tanned sandals.
And with generous fabric, the kaftan is an easy-to-wear style for all shapes.
Top tip #4: Relaxed fabrics
Comfort is key to Byron Bay fashion. So, make sure you’re looking for fabrics that are going to feel great as well as look great.
At Dreamers and Drifters, all of our fabrics are ethically sourced and completely sustainable.
For example, rayon (made of wood pulp) is a super comfortable fabric, that sculpts over your body and moves fluidly.
Linen hangs more loosely and is perfect for hot summer days thanks to its breathable nature and relaxed fit.
However, our favourite for ultimate softness has to be 100% organic bamboo.
Top tip #5: Simple colour palette
This one is obviously optional…wear whatever colour you feel like!
But if you want your colour palette to reflect Byron’s landscape and lifestyle, stick to muted tones like dusty yellows, warm oranges, washed out greens, fresh whites and vintage blues.
And when it comes to prints, think classic…gypsy florals, quirky polka dots and dreamy tie dyes.
